Ron Baxter is a professor/writer and performer. These Nights he will lead his new group for our Thursday Night Jazz Feature.

HWY 54 - August 22 - 6:00pm

The band was started in Chapel Hill/Carrboro, North Carolina in 2006. Originally a blues band, HYW54's sound is now a concoction of Blues, Folk and Rock. For the last year the band has mixed these influences together to create an original sound using material written by different band members. The tunes are thoughtful and lyrical and draw a wide audience.

Dexter Romweber Duo

"Dexter Romweber was and is a huge influence on my music. I owned all of his records as a teenager, and was thrilled at the fact that we were able to play together recently on tour. His attitude towards music is remarkable. The Grey Area - August 29 - 10:00pm

The music played under a different name “The Reset Method” at the time has opened for National Acts such as “Papa Roach” and “AFI”. The original songs are written and designed to catch any one's particular taste and leave them begging for more. The Reset Method was the runner up for “The Next Big Thing” presented by 97 X FM, Tampa Bay, FL. “The Grey Area” recently won round one of the “Gorilla Productions” Battle of The Bands and will play the finals at The “Cat’s Cradle”.

Nathaniel Hoho & the Click Clack Boom - August 26 - 8:00pm

Nathaniel Hoho began playing out , full time, in summer of '06. He quit his job and decided music was it. He's been a touring musician ever since. It has been no small task independently booking 2 east coast tours, 1 national tour which lasted two months, and constantly gigging in central PA and surrounding states. He has released , recorded, and produced his debut Ep " Wait Until the Story Ends",

The Old Ceremony is a band from Chapel Hill, NC, led by songwriter Django Haskins. They make lush, literate rock. TOC chosen as "Best Band in Orange County" by the Independent Weekly's Annual Reader's Poll 2008.

Say When made its reputation as one of the hardest-working rock bands in Boston, and now, after months of nonstop national touring, they're earning a new reputation as one of the hardest working rock bands in the country. The band's determined , do-it-yourself attitude has led to sold-out shows all over New England, a self-funded, self-booked tour of the United States, opening slots for major national acts such as Yellowcard and Sugarcult, an invitation to perform alongside the biggest bands in modern rock at New Jersey's Bamboozle festival.

Firehouse Rhythm Kings - September 18 - 9:00pm

On any given night the Rhythm Kings can range between 3 and 8 members, from a violin/piano/bass trio to an extended band with a full brass section and drums. But no matter what the ensemble is, it's guaranteed to make you jump and jive!

Beggars' Caravan's - Sept 25 - 8:00pm

Thacker Dairy Road - Sept 27 - 8:00pm

A funk-improv and hammond slammin' keyboard player. A wicked lickin' art-country lead guitar player. A punk-turned-funk bass player. A whiz-kid prodigy and protege' drummer. A dedicated and die hard bluegrass fiddle player. And a self-proclaimed "lyric-loving" lead singer.This six-piece group brings it all together for a new sound that blends funk with country, soul with samba, and more.
