thoughts from the band….imagine you are a goldfish. you are lying on the pavement beneath the rear wheel of a 1977 ford station wagon. with fake wood siding. the wagon begins to back up. your short, submarine life flashes before your eyes. choirs of angles intone a sonorous greeting. in the distance, you hear soaring vocal harmonies. blues licks erupt from roaring guitars. melody caresses your gills. you start to groove. you are the goldfish. we are the music. love, thehwy54band

The Fooligans are the product of three North Carolina natives and Californian Tom Dobrov, formerly of Oxbow and Smile the Vine. Multi-instrumentalist John Colvin, born and raised in Chapel Hill, brings a strong knowledge of jazz, funk, rock, and rhythm to Tom’s prowess and experience on the drums. Ian Leinbaugh has grown up in Carrboro, NC, where he has been exposed to a wide variety of musical styles, clinging to the blues guitar idiom in particular. William Taylor hails from Greensboro, NC; he has years of experience singing and playing with Best When Tipsy and now brings his expertise to the amalgamation of styles that is The Fooligans. Harnessing the raw power of rock and roll, The Fooligans are an elemental force to be reckoned with.

Radio Silent Auction (RSA) emerged in Raleigh, NC in early 2008 on a mutual vision to create independent rock music that is original, genuine and dynamic. RSA is made up of four experienced musicians from the mid-Atlantic local music scenes in Raleigh and Asheville NC, Richmond VA and Washington DC. Brett Durham – vocalist and guitarist, Bucky Fairfax – guitarist, Jeremy Cartner – bassist, and Ash Stevens – drummer. RSA’s sound is defined as a blend of alternative and classic rock with tones of indie, blues and pop. A solid groove with dirty riffs and a gritty edge. Two guitars provide balanced tone and contrast out in front of a rhythm section that establishes a simple but purposeful presence. Vocals are raspy and soulful, abandoned and incensed, resilient, meaningful and coercive. Lyrical themes of love & hate, freedom and control, and personal and social dysfunction resonate. RSA’s goal is to create music that brings together their wide range of influences, share their music to as broad of a fan base as possible and provide an enjoyable musical experience to their audience. Abandon the fiber essence presence / belief is the death of intelligence / the way to combat falsehoods is with truth.
